AnEmergencyScene is an independent concert promotion collective based out of Altoona, Pennsylvania; formed in MMV to strengthen our musically artistic community.
Hey everyone, just a quick reminder about the show tomorrow night at The Archway Center. Mixtapes and Masked Intruder will be joined by The Composure, The Company You Keep, Ty Ayers, and B-side Avenue, and the fun starts at 5PM.
The Composure haven’t been to Altoona in over a year, Mixtapes hasn’t been through since October, and this is Masked Intruders first time here, so spread the word, and let’s make it a good one!
Check out The Composure’s latest video for “Stay Away From Me” above.
It’s been quite a while since we’ve done an all acoustic show, but when Washington DC’s The Baby Grand told us about their plans for acoustic summer tour with Virgina’s The Eleventh Hour and hometown heroes The Big Time it seemed like the perfect opportunity to do the biggest all acoustic show we’ve ever done. Ten acoustic acts (Number ten is still TBA.) for $8, music starts at 5PM on the dot!
With the release of Koji’s incredible new album and the news that he will be back in Altoona on June 7th, we wanted to link you to the stream of “Crooked In My Mind”. It’s been in constant rotation in the office since Tuesday when the album dropped.
Slingshot Dakota and Allison Weiss just announced a very short tour this Summer, and we’re happy to say that Altoona will be a part of that run. Mark your calendar; July 21st! Summer fun, you guys!
Slingshot Dakota is from Bethlehem, PA and composed of Carly Comando and Tom Patterson. The duo displays a unique style of indie rock with only keys, drums, and their voices. Many have compared them to Mates of State or Matt and Kim; i’d say there are some hints of early Death Cab For Cutie and The Front Bottoms in there too. Slingshot Dakota also announced a dates with Owen this week, and have recently been on the road with Koji and Frameworks. Their album “Dark Hearts” was released via Topshelf Records in the fall of 2012. Check it out over on Topshelf’s Bandcamp: http://topshelfrecords.bandcamp.com/album/dark-hearts
Allison Weiss was just here on the March Radness Tour with Candy Hearts and Pentimento; right before her album “Say What You Mean” hit shelves. If you missed her set then, do not miss your second chance! By now, all of you know the lyrics, right? If not you can grab her album from No Sleep Records (or stream it on her website) and sing along with the rest of us. Allison recently stopped by the Glamour Kills office to do an acoustic session; watch her cover of Torn by Natalie Imbruglia here: http://youtu.be/CtUPScW8f1k.
Lacey Caroline is a singer-songwriter from New York that has had our attention ever since we heard her previous musical project: Poughkeepsie based pop rock band, The Best Week Ever with Tom Degrazia (We are The In Crowd, That’s Outrageous). Fast forward a few years, add some county influences into the mix, and you have one of the most promising up and coming solo artists. Check out an acoustic session of Lacey’s first single “Every Little Thing” here: http://youtu.be/l0e2npoDnl8.
The internet has been buzzing about today’s new tour announcement from Koji and Turnover; and we’re so happy to be hosting the first date of that tour in Central Pennsylvania. June 7. Altoona. The Archway Center.
Although Koji has played Altoona many times, this show is sure to be a brand new experience for everyone in that Koji will have the talent of his whole band alongside him. The last time the Harrisburg native came to Altoona was for an intimate house show in February of last year and since then he has done stints with Daylight, Slingshot Dakota, Geoff Rickly (Thursday), Vinnie Caruana (I Am The Avalanche), Never Shout Never, and The Vans Warped Tour. His debut album “Crooked In My Mind” comes out tomorrow. Stream the the first single “In The Line” here: http://soundcloud.com/tom-rfc/in-the-line
Turnover just released their debut album “Magnolia” to mounds of positive reviews; comparing the bands progression to that of Fireworks with Gospel or Title Fight with Floral Green. You can watch their video for “Most Of The Time” here: http://youtu.be/d34G0ZkJsqw
Ivy League’s new album “Transparency” is due out in June on 6131 Records. You can stream the track “Losing Sleep” over at Punk News: http://www.punknews.org/bands/ivyleague.
